Applying time-frequency methods to pressure and structure-borne sound for combustion diagnosis
نویسندگان
چکیده
This work presents the application of three different timefrequency methods to pressure and structure-borne sound signals to improve combustion diagnosis of internal combustion engines. Increasing engine efficiency and reduction of pollutants imply enhanced knowledge of the combustion process. The methods presented deepen the understanding of the measured signal and stimulate improved algorithms for knock detection.

Calculation of the drop in sound pressure level and frequency analysis of aerospace engine test cell (Research Article)
Aerospace engines testing is a source of noise pollution and determining the low frequency acoustic characteristics of the test cell, plays an important role in optimally control of the sound field and reducing the level of sound pressure and pollution. In this study, the drop in average sound pressure level is numerically predicted by constructing a test cell according to ISO 140 standard. To ...
متن کاملImproved knock detection by time variant filtered structure-borne sound
In order to detect knock in spark plug engines generally structure–borne sound signals measured by acceleration sensors mounted on the engine housing are used. At test bed engines additional pressure sensors measuring the pressure inside the combustion chamber deliver a reference signal to adjust the parameters of knock detection based on the sound signal. We show by experimental results that t...

Background & Aims: In addition to the adverse effects of noise in the auditory system, non-auditory effects can be regarded as factors which cause physiological harassment, discomfort and also disorder in cognitive functions. The present study aimed at determining cognitive function after exposuring to different levels of sound pressure level in a clinical trial study. Materials & Metho...
متن کاملMitigating Combustion-driven Oscillation (Thermoacoustic Instability) in Industrial Combustors
Combustion processes generate a band-limited pseudo-random sound that is often referred to as “combustion roar.” Although combustion roar sound is moderately intense but it is rather straight forward to quiet to a non-objectionable level by properly applying sound absorbing material around the burner area. In addition to the 'roar' sound which almost always exists in any confined combustion, on...
متن کاملOpto-acoustical filter based on phoxonic crystal ring resonator
In this paper, a phoxonic crystal structure is designed that shows a complete phononic and photonic ban gap and is capable to guide the optical waves with transverse magnetic polarization and acoustic waves. The materials used in the structure are nylon and molybdenum, which have suitable refractive index and elastic constant. Also, it is worth of noting that the filling factor is 28% for the p...
